.22 Extra long cartridge
A .22 Extra long cartridge (5.6mm) is a longer version of the .22lr cartridge. Especially for long guns and / or varmint weapons ,because of a longer case than the normal .22lr
With a rimfire cartridge, the ignition charge (impact axis) is pressed into the thin-walled protruding edge of the shell bottom.
Impact of the firing pin at this location ignites the cartridge.
A longer pattern with little recoil and it belongs to the .22 family
